Introduced in late 2017 to honor company (re-)founder Walter Lange, who passed away in January of that same year, the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 "Homage to Walter Lange" reference 297.026 revives a stoppable jumping seconds mechanism dating back to a 150-year-old invention conceived by Ferdinand Adolph Lange. Limited to 145 pieces in 18k white gold, a reference to the years passed since the company's founding in 1845 and its re-founding in 1990, the 40.5mm case houses a solid silvered dial with Arabic numerals and blued steel hands.

The sweep seconds hand, controlled by the "flirt-and-star" principle, can be stopped and restarted via the pusher at 2 o'clock. Every numerical detail pays tribute to Walter Lange: the first three digits of the reference, 297, and the calibre number L1924 both reference his date of birth, 29 July 1924. Powered by the manually wound Calibre L1924, with 253 parts and 36 jewels, the movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers a 60-hour power reserve, visible through the sapphire exhibition case back. The watch is fitted on a black alligator leather strap with an 18k white gold prong buckle.
