Description
The Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea ref. 136660 in black dial is the most technically extreme watch in the Rolex catalogue — an instrument of deep-sea engineering that pushes the boundaries of what a wristwatch can withstand, rated to a staggering 3,900 metres (12,800 feet). Introduced in 2022 as the successor to the ref. 126660, the 136660 retains the core architecture that made the Deepsea an icon while refining it with Rolex's latest generation of materials and movement technology.
The patented Ringlock System — a nitrogen-alloyed steel ring that acts as the structural backbone of the case — combined with a domed 5.5mm-thick scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and a Grade 5 titanium alloy case back, allows the Deepsea to withstand pressures that would destroy virtually any other watch.
The intense black dial is a study in legibility under pressure: large Chromalight-filled hour markers and broad Mercedes hands emit a long-lasting blue glow in total darkness, while the 60-minute graduated unidirectional rotating bezel — fitted with Rolex's virtually scratchproof black Cerachrom ceramic insert with platinum-coated graduations — allows safe monitoring of dive and decompression times.
A helium escape valve at 9 o'clock accommodates saturation diving requirements. Powering the watch is Rolex's in-house Calibre 3235, featuring the Chronergy escapement, blue Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, and a 70-hour power reserve — COSC-certified to -2/+2 seconds per day after casing.
The Oyster bracelet is fitted with the Oysterlock safety clasp and Glidelock extension system, allowing up to 20mm of micro-adjustment for wear over a wetsuit. This is a 2025 example in excellent condition, presented complete with original Rolex box and papers.
