Why We Love It

 The Patek Philippe Calatrava is one of the most iconic watch collections of all time, with each of its time-only members carrying a distinct, symbolic weightiness in their lightweight, formal wear. 

The Patek ref. 5119J hit the catalog in 2007, and from its introduction has represented a pillar of the Calatrava line. Produced in solid yellow gold, the supremely elegant watch is characterized foremost by a characteristically modern Patek hobnail bezel, an addition to the Calatrava that has only grown in popularity. The 5519J followed the release of the first ref. 5119s in 2006 which were executed in pink and white gold. As the larger interpretation of the ref. 3919 that it replaced, the reference number has been massively successful for the brand. Its purity of design as a three hand is instantly recognizable as a Patek Philippe. Featuring a classically executed 36mm construction, the case is charmingly thin in construction at eight millimeters and supremely easy to wear across wrist sizes.

The eggshell dial follows in the ethos of the case, featuring a simple small seconds, time-only configuration, but one that's finely elevated in each of its details. The manually wound Patek Philippe caliber 215PS powers the formal watch with a 44-hour power reserve, with the mechanism's expert finishing on full display through a sapphire exhibition caseback.
