Description:

Reference 116520 is built in Oystersteel, its 40mm case fitted with a tachymeter scale engraved directly into the steel bezel rather than ceramic, the last generation to carry it that way before Rolex moved to Cerachrom. The black dial holds a lacquered depth beneath the sapphire crystal, with three chronograph sub-dials in a lighter contrast finish standing proud against it — a 12-hour counter at nine o'clock, a 30-minute counter at three, and running seconds at six. Chromalight fills the index hour markers and hands, holding a steady blue glow after dark. Screw-down chronograph pushers flank the crown, both signed and finished to match the case.

Inside is Rolex's in-house Caliber 4130, the first chronograph movement developed and produced entirely by Rolex, running on a column wheel with a vertical clutch and a blue Parachrom hairspring, delivering roughly 72 hours of power reserve across 44 jewels at 28,800 vph. The Oyster bracelet's solid links run straight into the case at the lugs, finished in alternating brushed and polished surfaces, and close with a fold-over Oysterlock clasp for a secure fit. A screw-down case-back and crown bring water resistance to 100 meters, keeping the watch as functional as it is collectible.
