Discontinued Tudor Black Bay 36mm (2020)

Details & Specifications

The Black Bay 36 was introduced in 2016 with a black dial and later in 2018 with a blue dial. It marked a significant shift for the popular Black Bay line, which had been primarily known for its dive watches. The Black Bay 36 expanded the collection to include vintage-inspired pieces with a consistent design language, making them highly appealing.

Tudor fans, as well as others, were drawn to the Black Bay 36 for several reasons. Its 36mm steel case, vintage diver inspired dial, and reasonable price point made it an attractive option within the brand's offerings. This watch appealed to those seeking a smaller timepiece with the trendy design, filling the niche before the larger Black Bay Fifty-Eight was launched.

The 36mm steel case of this Black Bay 36 maintains the classic Black Bay style, inspired by the oyster design, with a blocky construction and a relatively large crown featuring a signature inner ring. Unlike its sportier counterpart, it doesn't have an outer rotating dive bezel, making it more suitable for formal occasions.

The dial of the Black Bay 36 showcases the collection's distinctive features, including applied hour markers, the "Smiley" script near the six o'clock position, and snowflake hands. Its movement is powered by a Tudor-modified ETA caliber 2824, an automatic movement with 25 jewels, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and providing an approximate 38-hour power reserve.
