Details & Specifications
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas ref. 42042 is widely regarded as one of the defining neo-vintage models of the Overseas collection. Introduced in 1996, it followed the earlier 222 series of integrated-bracelet sports watches. With its 37 mm midsize case, the 42042 features a bezel inspired by the Maltese cross — the emblem of Vacheron Constantin — giving the watch its distinctive identity.
Unlike the 222, which was designed by a young Jorg Hysek and released soon after the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus, the 42042 is equipped with a COSC-certified chronometer movement. Despite its significance in shaping the modern direction of Vacheron Constantin, the watch remains remarkably understated in its design and presence.
