Description
The Seiko Prospex "King Turtle" PADI 60th Anniversary Limited Edition ref. HBB002 is a watch that carries two significant milestones simultaneously — PADI's 60th anniversary since its founding in 1966, and the 10th anniversary of the Seiko and PADI partnership that began in 2016. Both organisations share a deep common thread: Seiko launched Japan's first dedicated diver's watch in 1965, and PADI has spent six decades training over 30 million certified divers across 183 countries, promoting diver safety and ocean conservation on a global scale.
The watch translates PADI's 60th anniversary logo directly into dial language — a rich electric blue sunburst surface overlaid with a subtle globe motif spanning its entirety, a red seconds hand and matching red "Diver's 200m" text at 6 o'clock completing the PADI colour story with restraint and precision. The King Turtle case is the ideal canvas: the 45mm cushion-shaped stainless steel case with its characteristic rounded shoulders and screw-down crown at 4 o'clock wears considerably smaller on the wrist than its dimensions suggest on paper, courtesy of its comparatively compact 47.7mm lug-to-lug measurement.
The unidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with a polished blue ceramic insert — a premium specification that distinguishes the King Turtle from the standard Turtle — with white Lumibrite-filled markings and a luminous pip for low-light legibility. Applied hour markers and broad hands carry Lumibrite lume for exceptional underwater legibility, while the day-date display at 3 o'clock is magnified by a cyclops lens integrated into the anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
Water resistance is rated to 200 metres and magnetic resistance to 4,800 A/m. The calibre 4R36 automatic movement — with manual winding and stop-seconds functions — beats at 21,600 vph with a 41-hour power reserve. The screw-in case back is engraved with the individual edition number. The watch ships with both the stainless steel three-row bracelet with diving extension and an additional black silicone strap with "Professional Association of Diving Instructors" printed along its length — a considered touch for those who plan to actually dive with it. Limited to 8,000 pieces worldwide, released July 2026.
