Part of the third series of limited-edition watches celebrating Seiko's 145th anniversary, the Seiko Prospex Alpinist reference HBC006 reflects "Edo purple," a hue embodying the aesthetic sensibilities of Edo period Tokyo and representing a cultural heritage passed on to future generations.
The 39.5mm stainless steel case features a super-hard surface coating for added scratch resistance, with a rotating compass inner ring and screw-down crown continuing the mountaineering-inspired DNA that has defined the Alpinist since the original 1959 Laurel Alpinist. The sunray purple dial is set with the model's classic wedge-shaped indexes, Arabic numerals, and gold-coloured accents on the Seiko logo and seconds hand, alongside a magnified date window at 3 o'clock.
Powered by the in-house automatic Calibre 6R55, the movement delivers a 72-hour power reserve. Limited to 7,000 pieces worldwide, the watch is fitted on a black cowhide leather strap with purple contrast stitching and a three-fold clasp with push-button release, and features a see-through, screw-down case back marked "LIMITED EDITION."
