Description
Launched in Spring/Summer 2026 to mark Tudor's centenary, the Monarch ref. M2639W1A0U-0001 is the most considered and ambitious watch Tudor has produced in years — a new reference carrying a half-century-old name, reimagined entirely for the modern era and elevated to METAS Master Chronometer status. The case is immediately striking: a finely faceted 39mm stainless steel construction with a softened tonneau profile, razor-sharp transitions, and a disciplined interplay of brushed and polished surfaces that give the watch an architectural quality unlike anything else in Tudor's current range.
At 11.9mm thick with fitted endlinks flowing into a matching faceted H-link bracelet, the Monarch presents as a cohesive, integrated design from every angle. The dark champagne dial — described by Tudor as akin to papyrus — is one of the most distinctive and genuinely beautiful dial colours in recent Swiss watchmaking, rendered with a depth and texture that shifts beautifully under changing light.
The distinctive "Error-Proof-style" layout combines Roman numerals from 10 to 2 and Arabic numerals from 4 to 8, a historically derived typographic choice that gives the dial a character entirely its own, complemented by applied hour markers and a small seconds sub-dial. Powering the watch is Tudor's in-house Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U — 32 jewels, 28,800 vph, silicon balance spring, variable inertia balance, and a 65-hour power reserve — certified by both COSC and METAS, ensuring precision to within 0/+5 seconds per day after casing and resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. The T-Fit tool-less micro-adjustment folding clasp completes a bracelet that is as well-considered as any Tudor has produced. This example is brand new, presented complete with original Tudor box and papers.
